Marvin is learning so many new things as a freshman at Missouri Baptist University!  When he not practicing on the varsity soccer team and studying for classes, he's opened a barber shop in the bathroom of his dorm!  Here, he takes a few inches off of Tino's hair.

Marvin and his siblings had to learn to fend for themselves from a young age.  Their grandmother, who raised the five children, did all she could to support them by selling packets of peanuts on a street corner in downtown Tegucigalpa.  Yet poverty and hunger chased the children one-by-one on to the streets, where Marvin found himself by the age of six.  Marvin is one of the lucky ones:  he was rescued by a crisis center for street kids after only a few months on the streets, before the yellow glue and other street vices completely took hold.  His brothers were not so lucky.  Even so, Marvin was on-and-off the streets for the next four years, never staying in one place for more than a few months at a time.  Despite this lack of stability, Marvin's intelligence, courage, and drive were easy to spot from a young age.  When we began working with Marvin, he began using his many talents in amazing ways!  Marvin is definitely a leader at the Micah house.  The other boys look to him for encouragement and support.   His ability to reflect and problem-solve are surprising for a eighteen year-old, and he is thinking about studying to be a psychologist.  When he is not studying, Marvin has many goals that keep him busy!  He is an important part of our theater ministry to schools, jails, orphanages, etc., singing a wide range of songs that young audiences love!  In 2003, he began working at a local orphanage every Saturday and Sunday.
