Oscar Amaya moved into the Micah Project in the first week in June. This sixteen year old grew up in an orphanage on the Caribbean coast of Honduras where he went to live when his mom died in 1998. Late last year, he left the orphanage and came to live in Tegucigalpa. Because of the extreme instability of his living situation, the Micah Project decided to accept him this year! He is studying at the eighth grade level along with our other eighth grader Pedro.

This street boy scavenges through the city dump in order to find enough to survive each day. In this picture, he hides a bag of yellow glue in his pocket, glue that will help him to get high enough to forget his hunger. The Micah Project continues our daily ministry in the city dump to try to bring hope to the kids who live and work there.

Danilo teaches two ladies from the city dump. He travels out to the dump every Monday, Wednesday and Friday to teach these ladies at the first grade level.

Megan Mueller, our summer intern, and Becca Haver, our missionary, hug Juana, a young woman from Villa Linda Miller. Juana spends every day from sunup to sundown selling tortillas on a street corner in the downtown area of Tegucigalpa.

Jose and Fredy work on a science project for our homeschooling program. They had to make a periodic table from scratch. Both are very diligent students! Notice the giant neuron adorning the wall of our living room!

David take a minute in Villa Linda Miller to hug one of his small admirers. Gifted in working with children, David hopes to study psychology or education in Costa Rica next year in order to refine his skills!

A common site in Tegucigalpa! This truck stalled in front of our van, effectively blocking traffic on the narrow downtown street! The Micah boys all piled out of our van and pushed the truck to a wider spot in the road! Nothing like a little team work!

A team of folks came to Honduras from the First Presbyterian Church of Houston for their annual week of ministry alongside the Micah Project. They put on a medical clinic, which included surgery, ophthalmology, dentistry and general practice, while another part of the team ran a wonderful vacation Bible school for the children of Villa Linda Miller and the city dump. One afternoon, while the people lined up to see the doctors, Jose took a breather in order to spend a little time in peaceful reflection!
