February 2009 Album

The Micah Project continues to have a big impact on the streets of Tegucigalpa through our outreach to street kids.  Our greatest desire is to help break the bondage of addictions in their lives and help them understand the love of their Heavenly Father.  Above:  A street boy named Jason eats a plate of beans on a recent visit to the Micah House.  Jason's street name is Mil Aņos (A Thousand Years); he has been on the streets for most of his life.

Oscar Amaya is currently in his second month at a Youth with a Mission (YWAM) Discipleship Training School in Wiler, Switzerland.  In late February, Oscar traveled with a group of fellow young missionaries to do a week long outreach on the streets of Amsterdam (pictured above).  We are excited to hear the reports of what God is doing in Oscar's life through his YWAM experience!

In late 2008, Edwin discovered that his mom and five siblings were living under a bridge near the Tegucigalpa airport.  His two oldest brothers Miguel and Manuel began to spend a lot of time at the Micah House, and in February, we helped them enroll in an elementary school.  At the end of February, we received a donation so that we could help rent a room near the Micah House for Edwin's mom and her children.

The Micah Project strives to be a transformative influence in the lives of our boys' families, most of whom are extremely poor.  Wilmer's mom (yellow shirt), lives in a tiny room in one of the most dangerous sections of Tegucigalpa's market district.  She pays her room by the day, since she doesn't have enough money to rent an apartment by the month.  In February, the Union Church of Tegucigalpa bought a bed for Wilmer's family, which is almost the only furnishings in her room.  Here, pastor Darren Quilley (blue-checked shirt) visits with Wilmer's family.

In February, the Honduras Dental Project made their annual trip to Honduras to work with the Micah Project.  This group raised the funds to build the clinic (white building in background) in the Villa Linda Miller community and to equip the clinic with dental equipment.  Here, members of the community line up to greet the team on the first day of their trip.

The Honduras dental project team in action!  Here, the hygienists on the Honduras Dental Project trip work on patients and the Villa Linda Miller clinic.  John Bell (in the pink shirt in foreground) is accompanied by our chocolate lab Mocha as he gets his teeth cleaned.

Richard Jones of the Honduras Dental Project also brought equipment to check eyesight for their February brigade.  Thanks to a donation of thousands of pairs of eyeglasses, many people who came through the clinic were able to receive a pair!

Brenda has come to Honduras for many years now with the Honduras Dental Project.  Here, she smiles with Villa Linda Miller schoolgirl Daniela during a break from her dental duties!

The Micah Project began classes in February (the Honduran school year runs from February through November).  We have four part-time teachers that come in every morning to teach our classes, and our full-time missionary staff teaches as well.  Here, Marvincito, Axel and Cristofer check out the inside of a heart at a children's museum in Tegucigalpa.

John and Becca Bell took our guys hiking in the La Tigra rainforest at the end of February.  Here, they take a much needed break along the trail!

Marvin Morazan is studying music ministry at Instituto CanZion in Costa Rica.  Marvin is learning a lot about how to serve God through music.  As part of his training, he will have the opportunity to host a Christian music show on the radio in Costa Rica.  Above:  Marvin poses in full rapper gear!
