In May, we decided to take a four day trip throughout Honduras. The goal of the trip was to introduce the boys to the unique aspects of their own culture and history. Below are some photos of the trip!

|
The first stop on the trip was Copan, which is a ruin of an ancient Mayan city. Copan was recently established as a world heritage site. While most tourists visiting Honduras get to this amazing site on the Honduras-Guatemala border, many Hondurans never have a chance to get there. This was the first trip for most of our boys! Above, the boys stand on top of an ancient temple and overlook the "Grand Plaza" of this great Mayan City.

Copan is known for its amazing statues, or stela. Here, Edwin imitates a Mayan king on an ancient stela! According to our tour guide, the hands and feet are situated as they are to represent the divine balance and control of the king. It looks like Edwin has good royal potential!

After Copan, we took a bus up to the Caribbean coast of Honduras. We toured a colonial Spanish fort in a tiny town called Omoa. Then, we hit the beach! Here, the boys hitch a ride on a banana boat.

We finished our trip in Puerto Cortes, the biggest port in Honduras. Here the public relations director of the port gives us a tour! As we were touring, the Chiquita banana boat pulled into port (not pictured)!
