In late October, the Micah boys participated in the fourth annual "Project Honduras" conference (www.projecthonduras.com), in which mission and development organizations meet to discuss how to work in a more unified way. This year, the six oldest Micah boys spoke to the attendees about their lives and future goals. The conference was in a town called Copan Ruinas, a very typical town on the Honduras-Guatemala border. Above, Danilo shares part of his life story.

While we were in Copan for the Project Honduras conference, Darwin celebrated his 17th birthday! It was a very special day for this boy who spent more than six years of his life on the streets. Above, a group of mariachis serenades Darwin in the streets of Copan! |

While the mariachis sang to Darwin on his birthday, Pedro and Becca decided to celebrate with a dance! They drew quite a crowd on the streets of Copan!

After the conference in Copan, we took the boys for two days of R & R to the Caribbean beaches of Tela on the north coast of Honduras. Here David takes a break in a hammock to enjoy the ocean breeze! (Thanks to Erin MacLean for taking the picture!)

While in the beach town of Tela, we stopped in to visit Cristino and Freddy's mom, who lives in the mountains just outside of Tela. Here, they stand outside her house with their mother and their little brother, Darlin. For more information, take a look at Tino's Biography Page and Freddy's Biography Page.

Also in Tela, the boys were invited to play a friendly soccer game at the municipal stadium (they even got to borrow uniforms!). Here, the boys pause for the team photo before tying the other team three-to-three.

There is a beautiful tropical forest in Tela called Lancetilla. Besides the mosquitoes and the 100 % humidity, the boys enjoyed learning about the diversity of their country! Here, they pause under a huge "Ceiba" tree for a quick picture!

|
On the way back from our trip, we stopped in a town called "Progreso" to visit Danilo's mom. While he has not lived with his mom for eight years, he enjoys visiting her every so often. His little sister Jakelin stands with them!

Jose spends some of his free time making colorful woven bracelets in a variety of designs. He is very talented!

Before the construction could begin at the Leadership House, we had to do some "destruction!" This is what is left of the kitchen. By January 2004, this will be a beautiful new kitchen ready for the boys to move in! For more information about the new Leadership house project, click here: Leadership House.
