Three days a week, some of the Micah boys visit the city dump to work with the kids who scavenge through the trash.  Above, two girls take some time out from their hard lives to color!  Next year, we hope to start an official home-schooling program with the kids who work at the dump.

In their activities at the dump, our boys try to reach out to the teens who work there as well.  Here, Miguel (with the ball) and our Wheaton volunteer Jeremy play a pick-up game of soccer with a couple of the young men at the dump!

In the week of July 18-26, the youth group from the Greentree Community Church of St. Louis, Missouri came to work with the Micah Project.  Above, the group comes back from a hard day of work to eat dinner on the roof of their hotel.  Micah missionary Becca (red shirt) was extremely patient as she served pizza to everybody!  For more details of Greentree's visit, click here.

One of the Greentree group's activities was to build a small wooden home for a family that lives by the river in downtown Tegucigalpa.  Carlos, a nineteen year-old street kid, had built a temporary shack out of discarded materials so that his grandmother would have a place to live.  The Greentree group built them a much more solid structure!

Dr. Alford, from the Houston medical team that came to Honduras in June, returned to Honduras for a weekend in July to do some follow-up surgery.  Here, he inserts tubes into Danilo's ears, to help get rid of years of chronic ear infections.  Although Danilo is not very happy in the picture (is that a smile or a wince?), he is going to be very happy in the future when he doesn't have to deal with monthly ear infections!

Here, Edwin poses with the most beautiful dog in the world, the Micah Project's very spoiled  mascot Cheetah.
