On Mother's Day, we six Micah boys prepared gift baskets for their mom's and took them to their homes.  Above, Marvin presents a gift basket to his grandmother, Coronada, who raised him when he was a small boy.  At 85, she still has amazing energy!  She sells bags of peanuts on the streets every evening and

During the second week of May, the college group from the Central Presbyterian Church in St. Louis came to work with the Micah Project.  One of the purposes of the trip was to reach out to the Micah boys' families.   We decided to invite all of the boys' extended families to spend a fun day at a local park.  We had almost sixty people join us...mostly kids!  For some of the children, it was the first time they had ever been in a park.  Here, Marvin's niece Sochil hitches a ride on Danilo.

Pedro turned 14 in May!  The youngest Micah boy is getting old!  Here, during his birthday celebration, some of the older Micah boys lay hands on him as they pray blessings on his life.  ¡Feliz cumpleaños, Pedro!

Since May is the beginning of the rainy season in Honduras, we have had a couple of weeks of rainy, overcast days.  So on May 30, we decided to hit the beach!  We drove about 2 and a half hours to the Pacific coast of Honduras.  Here Pedro (background) and Freddy pose as we head in a boat to Amapala island (pictured in back).  It was nice to spend a sunny day on the beach before heading back to rainy Tegucigalpa!

The last week in May, the Micah Project received a new volunteer.  Jeremy Tolleson, from Atlanta, comes to us through an international studies program at Wheaton College called Human Needs and Global Resources.  He will spend six months with us.  He is a welcome addition to the Micah family!  Above, Edwin and the other ninth grade Micah boys interview Jeremy during their English class.
