Summer 2007 Photo Album

Joel Piedt from Covenant College spent the month of June at the Micah Project. He was a great encouragement to the Micah guys and fit in well at the Project! He was able to record two songs with the guys on their new CD, entitled "In Process". Here, he leads a worship time with Marlon and Daniel!

We have been trying to be a light to the street kids and teens under the bridge in Tegucigalpa for over a year now. Here, Michael chats with some of the kids on one of our Sunday afternoon outings.    Click here to read our Summer Letter to find out more about this work.

Marvin Coban has been at the Micah House for two months now, since June 2007. Having lived life on the streets (pictured left), Marvin decided to begin a new life with us. He is an intelligent kid with a bright future ahead of him! Pray for him as he leaves drugs and street life behind him.    What a difference two months makes! Marvin smiles a lot more often now that he has been off the streets for several weeks. Here (right), he cools off with a swim on a Saturday trip to a local park.

Our team from the First Presbyterian Church in Houston made their yearly trip to Tegucigalpa in June.  They minister to the Micah boys, the people of Villa Linda Miller and the kids at the city dump.  Here (left), pediatric doctor Robert Moore sees one of the many babies at Villa Linda Miller, as he has now for many years!  The Alfords (right) have been faithful supporters of the Micah Project for many years as well. They use their talents in many ways while they are here (as well as being great parents to the Micah boys, Gene is a surgeon, and Mary is a dentist). Currently, Olvin Funez is living with them while searching for an apartment near his new school, the University of Houston.

Left, Carol Marshall feeds a young child underneath the bridge on one of our outreach days with the First Presbyterian group. It is truly heartbreaking to see kids this young living on the street!  Right, Lauren Chapman helps to paint the exterior of the Micah House (as of August, we are in the ninth month of our remodeling project!)

The youth group from the Greentree Community Church spent a week in Honduras in July to build to classrooms for the school at Villa Linda Miller.  They worked very hard on the schoolrooms (pictured right).  Left, Juan Carlos and Anna work to place another block on the growing wall.

Miles carries Nelson piggy-back during Greentree's outreach to the kids under the bridge. Nelson is inhaling yellow glue out of a Coca-cola bottle.

Wilmer left the streets and entered the Micah House in June. Though he is thirteen, he has no schooling and has known nothing but life on the streets. While at the Micah House, he has struggled to beat his addiction to yellow shoe glue. Because of the addiction, he has left the house several times in order to go back to the streets. At press, he has been back on the streets for a few days. Pray that he will give up the drugs for good!

While on a trip to Honduras in March, a group of courageous young people from St. Louis felt called to help Daniel's mom purchase her own small home. As a single mother, she had been struggling to raise her younger children while paying rent on a small house. Thanks to a successful car wash in August, the group raised enough money to buy her a home...the first one she has ever owned! Here, she proudly stands in the doorway of her new home.

A few of the guys at the Micah Project formed a musical group a couple of years ago called "Los Micah Boys". In July and August, they produced their second album, called "In Process". The album contains a collection of their own songs, which highlight their personal testimonies and their desire to live holy lives before their Father. Here (left), Marvin records one of their new songs in the studio.  Right, Edwin and Jerson sing a song off their album at a benefit concert in the national theater of Honduras.
