September was an exciting
month at the Micah Project! On September 6th, Randy
Mayfield brought a vision team from the Central Presbyterian
Church in St. Louis. The goal of the vision trip is to
introduce church members to the different aspects of our
ministry in Honduras. Here, the team stands on top of
the water tank in the Villa Linda Miller community. |

One
of the highlights of the vision team trip was inaugurating a new
home for Daniel's mom Daisy. When Central Church's youth group
was in Honduras in March, a few of the group members developed a
desire to help Daisy purchase her own home. The small room she
was renting was sitting on a river bank in an area prone to
flooding. The youth group began to raise money when they
returned to St. Louis, including through a very successful car wash!
The vision team arrived at her house in September to help her move
in. Through songs and prayer and lots of hugs, they helped her
make the new house feel like home! Here, Daisy and Daniel
smile as the vision team arrives (Daniel is a senior at the Micah
Project this year). |

|
As part of the inauguration of her new home, the vision team surprised
Daniel's mom Daisy with a new refrigerator and stove! They
were the first appliances that she has ever owned. What a
blessed day for Daniel's family! Here, Daniel, Hauner and
Hector take her new refrigerator into the home. |

|
The vision team from Central Church spends time every year on the
streets of Tegucigalpa, getting to know the local culture and
history. One of the highlights is walking through the
sprawling weekend Farmer's market and catching the variety of
sights, sounds and smells. Here, they visit
one of the hundreds of vegetable stands in the market. |

It's science fair time! Although we have small classes in our
home-schooling program, they still have the opportunity to present
science experiments. Here, Pedro presents his project on the
relationship between different kinds of glass and heat. Pedro
is a junior this year in our educational program. |

Dan
Paul (red shirt, right) moved to Honduras from Toronto in September
to work with the Micah Project. He is here to help coordinate
our street ministry and run the Micah House on the weekends.
We are glad to have his help! His current outreach has focused
on the boy on the far left, Jose Daniel (nicknamed "Waterdog" on the
streets). Dan brought Jose Daniel to the Micah House to visit
in late September. In the picture on the right, he poses with
Erick (white shirt), Dan and Marvin (dark blue shirt). Marvin
and Jose Daniel were friends on the streets until Marvin joined the
Micah Project four months ago. Could Jose Daniel be the next
one to join? |

Edwin had an amazing experience in September! He was able to
meet his 97 year old great-grandmother Maria de Jesus for the first
time since he was three years old. We traveled to the town of
Edwin's birth, Corralitos, to be able to meet her. Corralitos
is a beautiful mountain village untouched by modernity (the
background picture of this page was taken on the way to Corralitos).
Edwin's grandmother and great-grandmother live together in a small
wooden home built on the side of a mountain. Here, Edwin hugs
his great-grandmother for the first time! |

|
Edwin also got to spend some time with his grandfather while
in Corralitos. Edwin had no contact with his family
until three years ago when we discovered their village.
This is the fourth time that Edwin has been able to be with
his grandfather. A sugar cane and corn farmer, Edwin's
grandfather Julian loaded us up with fresh vegetables as we
got ready to leave Corralitos! |

|
While in Corralitos, we took some time out to appreciate God's
creation! Here, the guys decide to dam up the river near the
village in order to have a deeper place to play. |

countryside. |

A few of the guys at the Micah Project formed a musical group a
couple of years ago called "Los Micah Boys". In July and August,
they produced their second album, called "In Process". The album
contains a collection of their own songs, which highlight their
personal testimonies and their desire to live holy lives before
their Father. The photo above is a poster that reflects the
album cover artwork. The five singers are Jerson, Edwin,
Pedro, Marvin and Jose. Not pictured is Joel, a student from
Covenant College who recorded a couple of songs with the guys.
