Olvin Ponce's Photo-Biography

Olvin grew up in a very poor neighborhood just up the street from the Micah House.  He lived with his mom and other family members until he was 9 when he left an alcoholic home for the streets.  Olvin lived on the streets from the time he was 9 until he was 15.  While living on the streets Olvin had a very rough life including gang activity.  When he was fifteen he heard the gospel message from a man who was evangelizing on the streets.  The Lord captured Olvin's heart and he chose to leave his life on the streets and go back home.  God blessed this decision and led him to the Micah Project in 2001.  Since then Olvin has been studying with the project.  In 2007, the Micah Project helped Olvin to rent a small apartment near the Micah House in order to remove him from the negative environment of his family home.  Above, Olvin is pictured in a window of his home at the age of about 4.

Here Olvin is 17 and had been studying with the project for two years.  Olvin graduated from high school in 2007 and hopes to be a veterinarian one day.

Olvin has many friends in the Micah House in 2006.  Here he is pictured with Jerson at a dinner for our dental team who comes every February.

On the same trip to Copan, Olvin got to see the ancient Mayan ruins.  Here he stands in front of a large field filed with the ruins.
