Oscar

Oscar experienced his first snowfall on December 1, 2006. As he finished up the first semester of his freshman year at Missouri Baptist University, he had been waiting impatiently to experience snow. I think the fun wore off pretty quickly!

Oscar began his freshman year at Missouri Baptist University in August 2006. He is playing on the varsity soccer team as well as taking a full load of classes! Here, Oscar (second from left) is joined by our other international students in a picnic to welcome him to St. Louis, sponsored by Central and Greentree Presbyterian churches.

Oscar began studying in our educational program in January 2001, and later joined our residential program because of the instability of his family situation (his family lives in a pool hall). Oscar is currently studying in the tenth grade in our educational program. He is a boy with a quick smile and many friends. His easy-going manner makes him very easy to talk to! Oscar is an extremely talented soccer player. Currently, he is in the minor leagues for a professional soccer team. There is a good probability that he will be a professional soccer player in the near future!

This photo was taken in September 2003! Oscar is the definition of a scholar athlete. He works hard at the tenth grade level in our education program in the mornings. Then, he spends several hours every afternoon practicing semi-professional soccer. His dream dream is to become a pro soccer player!
