October 2006 Photo Album

Maycol, the "taller" of the two, goes out to the AFE school at the city dump on Saturdays to help with a soccer team of kids from the dump.  Here, he takes a minute to smile with Jose Adan, one of their star players!

Our young men continue to have a weekly ministry to the children of the street.  Every Saturday, we roam the corners of Tegucigalpa, spending time with these rejected children.  Here, our boys have given a plate of food to a "second generation" street child:  the daughter of two street youth.

Our young men continue to develop their many talents through music, art, sports and language classes.  Here, Jeferson and Fredy participate in our art class by painting their unique designs on t-shirts!

Jarvin, one of the first young men to enter the Micah Project, is now a freshman at Houston Baptist University.  Jarvin is studying English this semester to begin regular classes at HBU next year.  Here, he poses with Micah missionaries Michael Miller and Becca Haver in front of the Hinton Center on HBU's campus.

Jarvin plays many positions on HBU's club team.  In the game we watched, he played almost the entire game, playing defense, midfield and forward!  His only problem was the unbearable heat (why is it soooo hot in Houston in October?)

Speaking of college students, we now have four students at Missouri Baptist University in St. Louis.  During Michael Miller's visit to St. Louis in October, we got together at Project Vice-President Randy Mayfield's house for a time of fellowship.  Shown here from left-to-right: Olvin Funez, Randy Mayfield, Sharon Mayfield, Oscar Izaguirre, Mandy Mayfield, Micah board member Dianne Becker and Tino Hernandez.  By the way, Sharon Mayfield makes the best white chili north of the Rio Grande!

Several of our young men were able to visit the Manuelito Project, which is a ranch that houses homeless children about an hour outside Tegucigalpa.  Jose's takes a moment to hug his younger sisters, who live at Manuelito.

On his way back to Honduras after a 12-day trip to the U.S. in October, Michael Miller's Continental flight passed near our Villa Linda Miller project as it prepared for landing.  Villa Linda Miller is a community that we founded in 1999 after Hurricane Mitch left hundreds of thousands of people homeless.
