Miguel's Photo-Biography

2007 was a year of transition for Miguel.   In August, he decided to leave the Micah Project to begin his life as an independent adult.   We helped him to rent an apartment near the Micah House and supported him while he got on his feet.  He plans to find work while he continues his studies at the national university.

In late 2003, Miguel reestablished contact with his mom and step dad after several years of no communication.  Now, Miguel visits them several times a month and tries to help them out as much as possible.

Miguel has lived in the Micah Project since we opened our doors in January 2000.   Miguel and his older brother left their home for the streets when they were just small boys.  In 1998, Miguel entered a crisis center for street children, where he lived until we took him in.

Miguel is an extremely good student.  He is especially quick with English and has a very good accent!

Miguel's would tell you that his first love in terms of activities is soccer.  We always joke that he can move any conversation into a talk about soccer before you know what's hit!  Above, Miguel is pictured with a friend, Moises, at the famous Mayan ruins of Copan (they are standing on the ancient Mayan ballfield, of course!)  ~May, 2002

When Miguel first came to us, he was quite camera-shy!   Here, he poses in his school uniform in January, 2000, the very first month of the Micah Project.

Here, Miguel poses on a footbridge during a field trip with his old orphanage in 1999.
