The Micah Project May 2008 Photo Album

May 2008 was a month filled with...

Service...

Our young men were asked to lead a chapel service at a local orphanage in May.  It turned out to be a very special time!  Dan and the guys led some worship songs (above) before Los Micah Boys (below) sang some powerful songs off their album En el Proceso.  Afterwards, Pedro told the young people how God rescued him from a life of violence and tragedy.  His testimony was very inspiring!

Speaking of Los Micah Boys, they also participated in an outreach event with several other bands at a local church.  The was a great way to reach out to the community, and several people committed their lives to Christ afterwards.  Above:  the publicity poster for the event (Marvin's picture is in black and white).

Marvin has been tutoring kids from the Manuelito Project, which is another home for street kids.  Here, Marvin takes a moment to mug with his young pupils!

Our street outreach continues in the market district of Tegucigalpa.  Here, our director of operations Rebecca Haver takes a moment to chat with a homeless youth.

Micah dog Mocha almost always joins us on our street ministry!  The street kids love to play with him and feed him...but he is also loved by the young at heart!  Here, an elderly women who sells fruit in the outdoor market takes a moment to give Mocha a hug.

May was also a month filled with fun!

One Saturday in May, we headed three hours south of Tegucigalpa to the Pacific coast of Honduras.  Upon arriving at the coast, we took a boat across to an island (pictured) called la Isla del Tigre (also called Amapala).  Above:  the guys are anxious to get in the boat to head over!  Below:  upon landing on the other side of the island, the mountains of El Salvador are visible in the distance.

Above:  Charly, Luis, Cristofer and Maycol compare fish in the sands of Amapala island.  Below:  Jeferson didn't catch the huge fish they served him for lunch on the island, but he was glad to eat it anyway!

While visiting the orphanage mentioned above, we were able to tour their working farm.  In harvest months, they produce over 2,000 pounds of blackberries each month.  They also have 22,000 coffee plants (pictured in the background).  Here, Cristofer picks his fill of blackberries.

Above:  Rebecca and her best friend Mocha take a trip around a lake on a May outing to a local park (she is with one of Marvincito's little brothers as well!).  Below:  Arle takes a zipline across the same lake!

As always, May was also a month to learn...

Our young men who are in the tenth grade work on a mural about the dangers of drug addiction.  Our home schooling program has four levels this year:  12th grade, tenth grade, sixth grade and third grade.
