"Don't let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity" (I Timothy 4:13).

May brought a big change to the Micah Project:  our Leadership House was re-dedicated as the Timothy House!  With the verse above as its new focus, the Timothy House is now more than ever a place where our older participants can receive the discipleship and training they need to become men of vision and purpose here in Honduras.  Be sure to check out the photos in this album of the re-dedication ceremony!

The dedication of the Timothy House was just one event in the life of the Micah Project in the month of May!  As you look at the photos below, please take a few moments to pray for the faces that you see.

Don't rock the boat!  Here, our El Salvadoran intern Israel Zaldana shares a laugh with 13 year old Nelson while trying not to capsize on a Saturday outing to a park outside of Tegucigalpa.  (The background photo of this webpage is a picture of Nelson diving for a soccer ball at the same park!)

Brothers reunited!  Three of our young men studying in Costa Rica returned to Honduras in early May for a school break.  Here, David, who is finishing a degree in psychology, spends some time with his younger brother Pedro Luis, a seventh grader in the Micah Project.

Brian Wiggs poses with some of his students on our roof-top technical school at the Micah House.  Brian's welding classes are well underway, and he is building phase two of the technical school:  a carpentry shop!

In late May, the Micah Project hosted a group from Portland, Oregon, led by Marshall Snider of Bridgetown Ministries.  Above, Marshall participates in our Friday street kid soccer program.  Below, one of the group members (far left, black cap) shares a message with the street youth who participate in our soccer ministry.

Above:  Group members from Bridgetown Ministries in Portland pass out food and water during our street kid soccer program.

Below:  Meg and Drew Smith from St. Louis joined the Portland group for a few days.  They have been helping us to move our moms' sewing ministry with the goal of beginning a micro-enterprise program to help the moms generate their own income.   Here, Meg teaches the women about needlepoint.

Nelson joined Becca and John to run a 5 kilometer race at Zamorano University in May.  Both Becca and Nelson came in second place in their categories!  Here, they rest after the race with Zamorano's spire in the background.

David celebrated his 14th birthday on May 19th.  David left the streets in January and has done very well in his first few months as a Micah boy.  Despite having a very difficult background, David has an easy smile and really loves to help others.  Pray for him and he leaves the streets farther and farther behind!

Micah friend Mary Floye Federer came to visit in May for a few days to catch up with the boy and staff.  Here, she spends some time with Pedro, whom she has loved and prayed for for many years!  Pedro is studying civil engineering at a local university and is doing very well!

Tropical storm Agatha passed through Tegucigalpa on May 30, causing the main river that passes through Tegucigalpa to overflow its banks.  Here, Micah missionary David captures an image of several men trying to get their car out of the rapidly rising water near the Micah neighborhood.

On May 30, we officially re-inaugurated the Leadership House with its new name, the Timothy House.   Above, project director Michael Miller shares some words of advice with the current group of Timothy House residents at the re-dedication ceremony.

Below, Leadership house coordinators Marlon Castellanos and Jeremy Tolleson reveal the new (temporary) sign for the Timothy House (Casa Timoteo in Spanish).

Above:  Timothy House resident Brian Chavez has mentored little Axel and helped him to record his very first rap song, called Little Boy (which is really, really sweet by the way - To listen to it, click here).  Above:  Brian and Axel debut the new song at the Timothy House dedication.

After being on-and-off the streets since February, 15-year-old Marvincito made the decision to enter a six month drug rehabilitation program called Proyecto Victoria.  Becca and Mary Floye spent the day on May 31st buying him the items that he would need and getting him checked into the program.  It's so nice to see Marvin with a smile on his face after months of misery on the streets.
