The Micah Project March 2009 Photo Album

We had the pleasure of hosting some new friends from Portland, Oregon in early March. Above: Michael Miller and Chris Coffman, a pastor at the Portland area Riverwest church, spend some time with street youth underneath one of Tegucigalpa's bridges.

Above: Carolyn Rogers spends some time with a street boy named Jose Daniel while visiting Tegucigalpa from Portland in March. Carolyn had been praying for Jose Daniel for some time and was very happy to meet him in person! We have all been praying for Jose Daniel to leave the streets for the last couple of years.

Below: The Portland group visits Wilmer's mom, who lives in a very dangerous part of the market district. We were able to move her to a safer place at the end of March.

Above: Hector Licona (left) has worked with the Micah Project for over a year as our street ministry assistant coordinator. Having grown up on the streets himself, Hector has a natural empathy for the kids. Here, he talks with a street boy named Kevin on a March outreach to the bridge area.

Below: Dan Paul has been our street ministry coordinator since September 2007. He and Hector (above) make a wonderful team as they try to model God's love for the youth on the streets. Here, Dan and Maycol pose with Jason (center), a young man who has been on the streets for several years.

Ten friends from Missouri also visited Honduras at the end of March. This group, mostly from the Central Presbyterian Church in St. Louis, came to join the Micah Project ministries for a week. Here, they watch the sunset over Tegucigalpa from La Leona park.

The Missouri group worked hard to begin the second story of the elementary school in the Villa Linda Miller community. Above, Maddy and Elise, both long-time supporters and frequent visitors of the Micah Project, tie the rebar posts for the second story walls. Below: Anna and Kelly work on the classroom wall while Santiago Giron, the Villa Linda Miller foreman, supervises.

The Missouri group accompanied the Micah boys to the PANACAM cloud forest, one of the most breathtaking places in all of Honduras. Here, Walter gives a ride to Carlos at one of the several waterfalls in the forest. Carlos is from Villa Linda Miller but has been studying in Micah's home school program this year.
