March 2007 Photo Album

We hope you enjoy our March photos!  From remodeling the Micah House to receiving visitors from afar; from teaching in our home-schooling program to building a school, March was a diverse and exciting month!  Take a look below!(The background photo was taken in the PANACAM National Cloud Forest in Honduras).
The remodeling of the Micah House entered its fourth month in March!  We have been living in about half the normal space of the house as we remodel it in stages.  Here, Pedro stands in our roofless dining room to gaze at the stars.

Becca Haver celebrated three years of service with the Micah Project in March!  As assistant director of the Micah Project, Becca has played a vital role in the lives of our young men.  Here, she takes a break from English classes with our high school juniors (Oscar, Pedro and Marvin) to smile for the camera.

Our guys helped to break ground on the second phase of the school building in our Villa Linda Miller community.  Later in March, the Central Presbyterian Church youth group came to continue the effort.  Here, Fredy loosens up the ground where the footings will be placed.

We had a special Spring Break visit in March!  Marvin (above) and Olvin (below) came back to visit as their sophomore year at Missouri Baptist University drew to a close!  It was awesome for the Micah guys to have their "older brothers" home once again!  Here, Marvin gets ready to enjoy a gourmet airport breakfast as he awaits his 5:45 a.m. flight to Honduras.  (And don't worry...that's definitely NOT a New York Mets hat he has on!  Okay, it is...but he got a stern talking to about team loyalty once he got to Honduras...Go Cardinals!).

Olvin shares a special moment with Micah missionary Jessica Busse and Mocha the wonder dog.  It was great to see the many ways that Olvin and Marvin have grown since being away at college!

Olvin and Marvin took over our English classes for a couple days while here.  Above, Olvin makes a point to our high school seniors in our home-schooling program.  Hopefully, he didn't teach them TOO much American slang!

Marvin shares a happy moment with Micah staff members Roger, Aida and Ana.  They prepared him a special Honduran meal, which he had missed greatly after many months of college cafeteria food!

Olvin renews his brotherly bond with Jeferson during his trip to Honduras in March.

The youth group from the Central Presbyterian Church in St. Louis came for the seventh year in a row to serve with the Micah Project (more pictures soon on our Groups page).  This enthusiastic group ministered in many ways during their week in Honduras, and encouraged us greatly in the process!  Here, sisters Hayley and Lea smile with Juan Carlos at an overlook of Tegucigalpa.

Maikito takes a break from the hot sun out at Villa Linda Miller during the week at the youth group worked with us.  The group sweated a lot as they helped build the VLM school and a retaining wall for a family in the Villa Linda Miller community.  They also worked with the children of Proyecto AFE at the city dump and the kids at VLM!

After a week of hard work, the CPC youth group joined the Micah boys for a trip to one of the most beautiful spots in all Honduras, the PANACAM national cloud forest.  A rigorous hike through the mountainous jungles led to this extraordinary waterfall, where Darwin and Jake take time to cool off.

Miguel tries on straw hats at a souvenir store in the colonial town of Valle de Angeles.  I don't know about you, but I think that hat just has Miguel written all over it!
