July was an awesome month at the Micah Project! We had everything from visits from long-time friends to a trip to a tropical paradise, from opportunities to serve others to celebrations of new life experiences. All in all, July was packed full of big moments. Take a look at the pictures below to celebrate with us all that God is doing!Above: We watch the sun set over the Caribbean on our trip to Tela! |

Brayan Chavez, who graduated from high school
last November, moved to Costa Rica in July to begin
a six-month Discipleship Training School with Youth
with a Mission (YWAM). So far, it has been an
amazing experience! Above: Brayan holds
a sign that says "I am secure" in the central plaza
of San José as part of an evangelistic outreach by
his team.

Maycol also had a huge month in July. He returned home after spending six months at YWAM's Guatemala base. He then celebrated his 19th birthday and began his college career! He is taking three classes at a local university this semester, and is thinking of studying business administration. |

One of Becca's best friends from college,
Katina, spent a couple weeks with us in July as
well. She is a wonderful photographer
(most of the pictures in this album are hers!)
and put her skills to good use here.
Above, Axel poses with Katina during his Micah
Tech class.

To celebrate the 4th of July, we took the
boys to a "County Fair" at Zamorano University
hosted by the American embassy. Here,
Maycol gives the "Eurobungy" a try!

Katina, Becca and Mocha visited some street
youth during Katina's visit to
Tegucigalpa. Mocha always brings a smile
to their faces!

The Micah van is a beast! Since we bought it new in 2004, we have basically used it as a 4-wheel drive, all-terrain vehicle...and it has never given us any problems! In July, we took it (along with the new van) on a seven-hour road trip to the Caribbean coastal town of Tela. Here, it gets ready to take on the northern mountains! |

Once on the Caribbean coast, we spent an
entire day in a Garifuna village called Triunfo
de la Cruz. The Garifuna people are an
Afro-Caribbean indigenous group with their own
unique language and customs. The boys
immediately made friends with the local youth
and played with them the rest of the day!
Here, Edwin and Miguelito play keep-away with
the local boys.

While on the Caribbean coast, we stayed at a
wonderful retreat center complete with swimming
pools and soccer courts. Here, we enjoy
breakfast at the retreat center.

Back to classes! After our brief visit
to the beach, it was time to get back to
work! Here, sixth graders David, Wilmer
and Miguel learn how to make bar graphs in our
home-schooling program.

Service and outreach are a part of our daily
lives at Micah. In July, we decided to
take on the Union Church's overgrown interior
garden. The boys ripped out the overgrown
foliage and planted beautiful new plants!
It was kind of like "Extreme Makeover, Church
Edition"!

A team of folks from Pennsylvania spent a few
hours with us in July, and our new musical
group, Los
Little Boys, decided to perform for
them! Here, Axelito and Miguelito perform
their song "Juntos
Podemos" (Together we can do it).

Friendship is such an important part of the
Micah Project, as the boys learn to support and
encourage each other in their process.
Above: Pedro Luis and Maycol take a moment
from swimming to smile for the camera.
Below: Wilmer and big Pedro roughhouse on
the Micah patio! You gotta love those
smiles!

Athletics are also an important part of our
daily lives! Above: Wilmer plays
defense on a soccer team that he recently
joined. Below: Marvincito and Hector
use their heads on the Micah House
patio. After spending over a year
back on the streets, Marvincito has been in a
rehab center since May. He was able to
spend a few hours with us in July back at the
Micah House! Please pray for him as he
continues his healing process.

Although soccer is THE SPORT in Honduras,
some of our boys are also involved in other
sports such as swimming and
basketball. Recently, David, Nelson
y Axelito joined a basketball program near the
national coliseum. Here, David practices
his jumpshot!

At the end of July, we were invited to
introduce the Micah Project to the Rotary Club
here in Honduras so that they could analyze the
possibility of supporting us in the future.
Four of our graduates, Darwin Pavon, Olvin Funez,
Oscar Izaguirre, and Edwin Fugon, spoke to the
group in a powerful way about how the Micah
Project has impacted their lives. Since one
of the Rotarians is the general manager of a large
group of radio stations here in Honduras, he also
invited us to speak on several of those
stations. Above: Olvin shares his story on
Radio America, one of the largest news stations in
Honduras! Below: Edwin, Oscar, Darwin and
Olvin share at the Rotary Club meeting.
