The new year began at the Micah Project with a visit from 22 members of the Central Presbyterian Church (St. Louis) chancel choir. Many of these talented singers have known about and supported the Micah Project for many years but had not been able to visit until now! Besides giving several concerts, they were also able to participate in the various aspects of our ministry. Above, members of the group take some time to get to know some people at the city dump.

The Micah Project director of operations, Becca Haver, has gotten a few of our young men enthusiastic about road races. During a recent race, Pedro Luis came in first place and Wilmer came in second!

Every January, Becca and Jessica take several of our boys to the village of Otuta, near the Guatemalan border, to support a medical brigade from the First Presbyterian Church of Houston. Otuta is an extremely remote mountainous village with a lot of needs! Above, Marvin supports the VBS program planned by the team.

While in Copan, Oscar helped to translate for Dr. Robert Moore, the pediatrician who has come to Honduras twice a year for many years to give of his time and talents. Above, Becca gets ready to bring in a new patient for Dr. Moore.

Thanks to a couple of generous donations, the Micah Project was able to build a house for our cook, Aida Martinez. This is something that she has dreamed about for many years! Our young men took the leadership of the project and built the house with little outside help! Above, Pedro, our foreman, prepares the house for the roof.

Micah's executive director Michael Miller spent three weeks in January in the U.S. One of the purposes of his trip was to visit our college students in the U.S. to encourage them in their studies. Above, Oscar, Tino and Marvin, our Missouri Baptist University students, smile in front of the door of their apartment. Below, Olvin, studying at the University of Houston, and Jarvin, studying at Houston Baptist University, pose with Melody Dunne at Goode Company Barbeque.

Danilo moved to Monterrey Mexico (pictured above) in January to begin a music ministry program at Instituto CanZion. The rigorous two year program will prepare Danilo for a life of ministry and service. He has enjoyed getting to know the beautiful and modern city of Monterrey. Click here to hear an interview of his experience.

Wilmer squared! Wilmer checks out his new haircut. He has been with us since July 2007, when he gave up his life on the streets. Though he has struggled to leave his addiction to yellow glue behind, and has gone back to the streets more than once, Wilmer continues to call the Micah Project home!
