January was the last month of our "summer" vacation from school. Our young men had many opportunities for travel, ministry, and work during their time off school. In the first week in January, some of the young men went to visit their families in northern Honduras. During their trip, they took a day to visit the Caribbean coast in the town of Tela, where Danilo's grandmother lives. Here, Danilo, Oscar, Darwin, Jefferson and Pedro smile for the cameras on a chilly day at the beach.

The remodeling of the Micah House entered its third month in January! Above, Fredy and Pedro take down a wall in what used to be the library of the Micah House. It took them all day to take down the beam that is on the floor by Fredy's feet. Our old home is going to look beautiful once the project is complete!

Pedro sits on the wall where the roof of our library used to be in order to chip away at the damaged walls. We have lived with a lot of dust since November!

Little Michael (Maykito), in the yellow shirt in the middle, has coordinated our program in the city dump during the vacation months. He went to the dump every morning and put together a sports program and others activities for the children there. For a boy who is barely four feet tall, Michael shows tremendous leadership and a true heart for ministry. Here, he takes a rest with his young charges after leading them in soccer practice.

Miguel was the chicken king in the vacation months as he breaded and fried thousands of pieces every day at his job at Church's Chicken. Here, Miguel takes a break from the work at Church's to smile for the camera.
Our missionaries Becca, Jessica and Roger took our older guys to Copan, on the Guatemalan border, for the annual medical team led by the First Presbyterian Church of Houston. Our missionaries and the boys spent a week with the team in an indigenous mountain village, accessible only by a good Four-Wheel drive vehicle. Here, Edwin takes a moment with some of the little boys from the village. Edwin, by the way, took the picture of the butterfly that comprises the background of this page.

During the week in Copan, Fredy (striped shirt) and the other young men helped with the youth program that the team planned. Here, Fredy celebrates amidst the butterflies!

Getting to the village where the medical team worked entailed a long and chilly ride in the back of a pick-up on rigorous mountain roads. Here, Jerson, Miguel, Danilo and Fredy huddle up for warmth on the early morning trek to the village.

Copan is the site of some of the most amazing Mayan ruins in Central America. The young men were able to visit the ruins and learn more about their heritage. Here, Daniel poses as a Mayan statue!
Marvin, who has an incredible passion for sharing his faith, sings a song on a radio station in Copan as Pedro provides the background vocals. Marvin ran into the producers of the station by chance, and after talking about the guys' album "Dificil de Olvidar", they were invited to sing some of their songs!
