The dental team based out of Houston came to Honduras for their sixth year in a row to support our programs here.  This year was even more special, though, because the team was able to inaugurate the new clinic in Villa Linda Miller which they built!  Clinica Arlene, named in memory of group leader Kim Martin's mother, will serve the Villa Linda Miller community for years to come.  Check out the team's website http://www.hondurasdentalproject.org/ , to find out how you can support the development of the clinic!

The new school year begins in February here in Honduras!  Above:  project director Michael Miller teaches Algebra II to our seniors Marvin, Pedro and Oscar.   Below:  project teacher Wendy Varela teaches Spanish to our tenth graders.

From street kid to serious student!  Thirteen year old Marvin (Marvincito in Spanish)  left the streets last July to join the Micah Project.  Above:  a picture taken in 2007 showing Marvin on the streets with a bag of yellow glue.  Below:  Marvin started his formal education with our teacher Ana Herman this February.  Because of some skills he picked up on the streets and because of his natural intelligence, Marvin was able to begin at the third grade level.

On February 23, the church in Villa Linda Miller, Iglesia Amor y Vida, celebrated its second anniversary!  Above:  Pastor Jeony Ordonez and his wife Jessie blow out two candles on the cake to celebrate.  Below:  some of the church members enjoy the festive occasion.

Above:  Daniel finished his first month as a freshman at Zamorano University here in Honduras.  Zamorano, the most prestigious agricultural engineering school in Latin America, is known for its rigorous academics, hands-on education and strict discipline.  Here, Daniel poses in his work-day uniform.

Olvin Funez began his second semester at the University of Houston in January.  Olvin hopes to become a mechanical engineer.  Here, he mans the Micah booth at a recent missions' festival at a church in Houston.

Maicol shows off his trampoline skills to the other Micah boys during a February outing.

With so many beautiful locales here in Honduras, the Micah Project tries to do a day trip almost every weekend to expose our boys to their own country.  Above: Cristofer, Maicol, Pedro Luis, Moises, Marvin and Wilmer take a break after a rigorous hike through the La Tigra cloud forest, which is about an hours drive from Tegucigalpa.  For more information about La Tigra, check out http://www.honduras.com/hondurastips/english/tourtipsintegucigalpa.htm.  Below, the guys continue their hike through the forest.
