Work continues on the Micah House! We have been remodeling through the month of December, including a new roof, re-plastered walls, a new bathroom, and an underground water cistern. We hope to be done with the project by the time we resume classes in February. Here, Pedro supervises as Franklin drills down a roof panel.
Darwin Pavon, who is beginning his final year of studies at Zamorano University, left for an internship in England in mid December. He will be working on a dairy farm in Bristol (southwest England) through April. Darwin is being supported by Jon and Gill Seagrave, a Bristol area couple that have been corresponding with Darwin for a couple of years. Here, Darwin takes in the sites of England with Gill Seagrave!

Jerson and Daniel accompanied Jeony (pastor of Villa Linda Miller and director of the dump school) on a mission's trip to an indigenous village called Guajiquiro in southern Honduras, where Jeony's denomination has planted a church. Here, they take a moment out to enjoy some of the beautiful scenery surrounding the village, including this waterfall. (The mountainous background picture on this webpage was taken near the village as well).

Several of our young men have found "summer" jobs in their school vacation from November through January. Oscar Amaya is working at an internet cafe, Juan Carlos and Marvin at a daycare, Edwin at Popeye's Chicken and Miguel and Jose at Church's Chicken. Miguel became famous on "National Day of the Chicken", when Church's handed out a free combo to anyone who came through its doors. Miguel is in the second photo, standing next to the blue balloons. The headline, from the major Honduran newspaper, reads: "Thanks to Church's Chicken thousands of Hondurans celebrate 'National Day of the Chicken'".

Marvin and Juan Carlos have been volunteering at a daycare that was founded by the previous First Lady of Honduras. They have immensely enjoyed their responsibilities with the young children, most of whom have one or more parents working in the large outdoor market near downtown Tegucigalpa. At a recent celebration, Marvin and Juan Carlos pose with the past First Lady, Aguas Ocana.

Los Micah Boys are on a roll! They sang at a benefit soccer game in late December that was covered by the national TV. stations. Here, Jose (grey hat) and Marvin (white hat) sing at an event at Covenant House, another program that works with street children. Several kids accepted Christ that night because of their testimony!

Christmas is an exciting time around the Micah Project! It is a time to give thanks to our Lord for the many ways in which he has blessed us throughout the year. One of those was little Elizabeth, who was born to Marlon and Nohemy, the couple that runs the Leadership House. Elizabeth fits right in among all the gifts!

Project director Michael Miller says a prayer over our Christmas meal. As is customary in Honduras, we ate at midnight on Christmas eve and opened presents after that!
