November and December 2005 Photo Album!

November and December were exciting months for the Micah Project and our young men.  We celebrated graduations for our high school seniors and our sixth graders, participated in many avenues of service and outreach, and even traveled to an exotic Caribbean island!  Take a look at our photo album below!

Above:  These fine young men graduated from the sixth grade in November.  We had a beautiful celebration for them at the Leadership House, with many guests from both Honduras and the U.S.  Left-to-right:  Juan Carlos, Erick, Darwin, Jeferson and, front row:  Maycol

A day at the park is just what the doctor ordered after finishing our school year in late December.  Above, Maycol and Erick's brother Christopher attack Oscar in a little round of play wrestling.

On this beautiful Saturday in early December, we participated in a day of service by helping to lay a cement floor in an extremely impoverished home in the Flor del Campo barrio of Tegucigalpa.  Above: Young men from the Micah Project join some neighborhood kids to form a bucket brigade to get sand up to the house.  What a wonderful thing it is to watch young people serving the Lord with their time and energy!

Juan Carlos removes debris inside the house in order to prepare it for the cement floor.  By the end of the day, all of the guys were exhausted but extremely pleased to have been able to help.

Above: Dona Susana is the owner of one of the houses that was chosen for a new cement floor.  This 82 year old woman sustains herself and her grandchildren by making rosquillas (pictured) and selling them in the neighborhood.  She was extremely grateful for the help we provided in improving her humble home.

Since Susana's home was on a steep hill that lacked access by road, we had to haul building materials up to her site.   Here, Jose hauls a load of gravel up while Jeferson returns to the bottom for more.

Our high school graduates took a few days on the beach in December as a reward for their hard work during the year.  They went to Roatan, an island off the Caribbean coast of Honduras.  Here, they enjoy an exotic sunset with Becca.

While in Roatan, Edwin and Danilo got to swim with the dolphins at the Anthony's Key resort.  These highly trained dolphins were fun to watch and even more fun to play with!

Another highlight of the Roatan trip was parasailing.  Here, Michael and Miguel soar high above the ocean as they are pulled by a speed boat.

Edwin and Danilo come in for a landing after their parasailing experience in Roatan.

Back on the home front, as Christmas rolled around, the guys entered their two month school vacation.  In this picture, Becca helps to fill our evening hours by joining the guys in a puzzle in our library.  Erick finished a vacation reading assignment in the foreground, while Cheetah keeps vigil in the window.

Jeferson dons our cook's apron to whip up some breakfast for himself.  The guys have become good cooks, although we've had to dismantle the smoke alarm in the kitchen!
