Darwin Matute

After living on the streets for six years, using drugs on a daily basis, Darwin entered the Micah Project in August of 2001.  Although he had never been to school before,  he learned how to read and write, and completed first through seventh grades in our home schooling program.  In 2008, at the age of 20, Darwin left the project and currently lives with his mom in Tegucigalpa.

A picture of Darwin when he was very young, soon after leaving his home for the streets.

Darwin (white shirt, being grabbed by a woman), at one of the many institutions that he inhabited for a few days or weeks at a time before heading back to the streets.  He looks like a barrel of trouble!                 ~circ. 2000

Darwin in 2003!  After six years on the streets and on drugs, no one expected Darwin to ever recuperate.  After two years at the Micah Project, he continues to amaze us!  It proves to us that no one is beyond the loving reach of their Father.

Wow!  Is this handsome young man really the boy who spent so many years on the streets?  We are so proud of all he has accomplished in his two years at the Micah Project!       ~ September, 2003
